Acceptable Identity Documents

Identity VerificationRevision: 2026-06-26Language: EN

ONEKYC accepts passports, national identity cards, and residence permits issued by recognised authorities.

ONEKYC's identity verification technology supports a wide range of official identity documents. The exact documents accepted for a given verification depend on the business's configuration, but the following document types are broadly supported.

01

Accepted document types

Passports — all pages with the photo and machine-readable zone.
National identity cards — front and back, including any chip-enabled cards.
Residence permits and biometric residence permits.
Driving licences (where accepted by the requesting business).

Documents must be government-issued, currently valid, and in good physical condition. Photocopies, screenshots of documents, and documents with significant damage are not accepted.

02

NFC-enabled documents

Many modern passports and national ID cards contain an NFC chip that holds a digitally signed copy of your data. Where the business has enabled NFC verification, reading the chip provides an additional layer of authenticity that goes beyond visual inspection. If your device supports NFC, you may be prompted to use this feature during the flow.

If you are unsure whether your document type is accepted for a specific verification, check the guidance shown in the verification flow or contact the business that requested your verification.
